Review
I received a copy from the publisher via Netgalley for review

I really did try to read this book and It had a great start. Then things started to get confusing and annoying.

I don’t mind when there Is different points of views most of the time the author can do It right. At most two Is perfect but three Is the max for me so when a forth point of view Is added I just skipped over that point of view completely...I didn’t even know that Maud was a main character to need a point of view from.

Another thing I found annoying Is when the epic moment when the kids become seekers Is totally skipped over...I don’t know If the author was to afraid to come up with Ideas for that part or If It was to adult rating to put Into the book but seeing Quin and her cousin (?) Get back and are barfIng on the floor with blood on them I didn’t care. To me It looked like they went In there killed people for fu cause they were told to and suddenly they have a conscience... yeah no I felt no sympathy for them. Maybe If the author wrote the actual scene and explain why they feel the way they do It would be better but she didn’t.

Also john Is funny he wants Quin to stay with her crazy father but dissent tell her why Is stupid. Then again she listens to her father and killed those people so I can actually see her following what John says....

I didn’t finish reading this book I did try but I just couldn’t...

Summary

Today, the aliens took my brother and I will do anything to get him back.

In seventeen-year-old Jax Mitchell's world, humans are nearly extinct and alien settlers have arrived.

Until recently, the E’rikon have remained segregated in their city and ignored the few humans who have tried to engage them… but now they have taken Jax’s brother. To rescue him, she forms an uneasy alliance with a teenage E’rikon left stranded in the woods. She agrees to guide him to the city if he sneaks her past the human-proof barrier. Too bad it’s not that simple.

Jax, who cannot stand to be touched, finds that she’s drawn to the alien boy with bright green hair and jewel-like scales on his back. And he’s equally affected by her, the courageous redhead with haunted eyes. But she doesn’t know the alien’s true motives and he has no idea that she is much more than she seems.

With the aliens and the humans at odds, the connection forming between the two teens has consequences. What started off as a rescue mission sets a chain of events in motion which threatens not only the remaining humans and the growing alien society, but Earth itself.

Review
Dystopian and aliens mixed into one story always makes a awesome book series. Broken Skies is amazing story full of adventure and even some romance. I just couldn’t put this book down and I’m glad I read it.

Broken skies takes place in the future where half of man kind has almost disappeared due to a event that happen in the past. Now they are trying to grow they’re population alongside aliens that also now live on earth, and the two of them don’t get along which brings in a great plot to the story.
Our main character Jasmine prefers to be called “Jax” is one interesting character. She may seem strong at first but you can see that she isn’t. Due to something that happen in her past she is frighten of being touched. But that doesn’t stop her from trying to be normal (well as normal as she can be). Throughout the story you can see how she becomes stronger and less broken. With the help of the alien Lir she starts to become someone who doesn’t mind to be touched. She does have some trust issues that I hope gets solved one way or another.

Lir is a great person and despite not knowing Jax he needed her to get home. He’s quite but at times you can see his personality show more towards Jax then anyone else even to his family. Between the two of them the romance is cute and slow. It a great bond that I hope to see more of in the next books. Despite how great he is Lir really needs to tell Jasmine everything and not keep things from her. That ending was just crazy.

I really recommend this story to people who love books with Aliens. I’m so excited for the next book in the series because seriously Jax frighten me a little at the end of this book.

Summary
If her love life is going down in flames, she might as well spark a revolution.

Finding out on your sixteenth birthday you’re a shape-shifting dragon is tough to swallow. Being hauled off to an elite boarding school is enough to choke on.

Since Bryn is the only crossbreed at the Institute for Excellence, all eyes are on her, but it’s a particular black dragon, Zavien, who catches her attention.

Zavien is tired of the Council’s rules. Segregated clans, being told who to love, and close-minded leaders make freedom of choice almost impossible. The new girl with the striped hair is a breath of fresh air, and with Bryn’s help, they may be able to change the rules.

At the Institute, old grudges, new crushes, and death threats are all part of a normal day for Bryn. She’ll need to learn to control her dragon powers if she wants to make it through her first year at school. But even focusing on staying alive is difficult when you’re falling for someone you can't have.

Review
I don't have the words to even talk right now. I've never loved a book so much in my life before. I could not put it down from start to finish. My favorite question of the whole book is "What does that make me, Purple?" Wow just wow is all I can say. I'm left with my jaw hanging cause all I want now is to read more.

The plot for this story from the beginning drew me in. Having a girl who just turn 16 find out her whole life was a lie and that her parents were dragons was amazing to start with. It just grew from there, not only is she unique which is amazing but she has to survive living at a boarding school where everyone hates her for who she is. Bryn being the hot headed girl like her father stands up to everything thrown at her. This my friends makes for awesome story through in some action and romance and that's it. Hook line and sinker.

Bryn is a strong prideful girl and i love her character to death. The author did such good work on her from the way she speaks to people she doesn't like (making me laugh half the time) to the kindness she shows to the people who earn her trust. I can see her growing into such a strong character able to stand up to anyone who stands in her way(which she practically did thought this book). I'm just so in love with these characters from Zavien with his mega male mood swings(all guys have them) to her friends Ivy and Clint all of which have they're own personalty no one is the same in this book the characters are written in such depth I fell in love with every single one of them. Even Jaxon the bratty rich kid that he is grew on me.

Don't get me started on he romance. It was so back and forth I wanted to slap the guy to death. He left me in tears so many times I can't count. I'm surprise Bryn wasn't in tears half the time I was. It was so cute, and the forbidden fruit factor was an awesome mix. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book, whether there will be another twist in Bryn's romantic life.

Over all I'm just in love with this series and I will be back to review book two when it comes out. I recommend this book to anyone who loves dragon's because this book will not disappoint. Not only will this cover draw you in but the plot line and the characters will also draw you in straight away. I do hope to buy a hardback copy of this book in the future.

Excerpt

Excerpt #1 - Erin

As my Maestro steps toward me standing in the midst of his symphony, I find myself totally agreeing with Luca’s observation more. Alek strolls to my side, his black hair slicked back and his strange, hypnotic, brown-blue eyes directed straight into my dark brown ones.

He takes my right hand as he faces his symphony and I face the crowd, the front of our bodies turned in opposite directions but our faces less than a few inches apart, and then kisses my knuckles just before he leans over and brushes his lips across mine. It’s the slightest touch, yet there’s enough feeling inside it to waken every cell inside my body, making me fearless. The applause and shouting almost deafens me.

“You are a stunning little Jaybird,” he whispers in my ear where only the two of us can hear.

At once, the audience and the symphony behind me, along with the dancers hiding in the shadows over the lower stage, all disappear. My heart speeds up; not because I’m nervous, but because that’s how much love I feel inside my soul for this man—my heart, my lifeline. He is the anchor who weighs me down—not at the bottom of a sea, but the one who keeps me from floating away to be forever lost in a world of the mind that oftentimes snatches me away inside its clutches of sadness and heartache.

He moves back and brushes his lips across mine, the simple touch jolting awake every single nerve in my body; the same way he has done since the first time we made love seven months ago. Alek worked for my kiss, something I no longer wanted to do; and to this day, I can’t believe I made him wait so long before giving in to something so heavenly and divine. What would life have been like for me without experiencing something like this every day?

Boring. Well, yeah, that’s a given.

Numb. So many women fall into that trap.

Celibate. Uh... Don’t think so.

The crowd roars and it’s hard to believe this is supposed to be a cultured group. There’s something mystical about a man who can command the notes inside of a song this way, a magician of melody and harmonies and voices. Nikolai’s dancers dance along to the tune, caught up in a web of musical sex and wrapping the audience up in the clutches of the god all this centers around.

I love everything about him: his head of deliciously dark hair that won’t stay in place when he awakens each morning, his broad shoulders, his tapered waist, his smile and dangerously sexy brown eyes that have just the slightest bit of blue inside the irises. It’s official. I’m completely hooked, a woman who has promised herself she’d never allow herself to feel the sweet temptation of another man’s lips on hers let alone fall in love with him. Standing here with the Maestro, I cannot describe the way my heart flutters each time I glance at his handsome face and strong hands!

Oh, God, those holy hands of creation.

Could anything in this world be any more perfect than the way Alek Dostov can blast through choreographing a song, and then later on use those same hands to drive my body wild with desire, temptations and experiences of the mind I’ve never even dreamed possible?

Excerpt#2 - Alek

I stalk toward her, bend down and pull her body toward the edge of the bed so that I’m situated between her legs. Long, dark hair trails along the bed behind her, and together with her little black tank top dress, I can’t stop the hard on raging through me. Vanilla drifts into my nostrils, a scent she prefers and sometimes chooses to couple with an apple-scented perfume—a combination that drives me wild with lust and need for her; things that are hard to describe. Even though tension surrounds our marital plans, there’s not a damn thing strained about our sex life.

“This hotel makes the 300-year-old mansions back home in Louisiana look young and fresh,” Erin says, glancing around the room. She’s right. Venice reeks of history and ancient battles—things that my sister Adriana adores—but that is something that has always made life a little more challenging for me back in school; history. Nevertheless, I can still appreciate the Floating City’s eclectic beauty.

“The designer in me is going wild right now,” she continues, a dreamy expression on her face.

“So is the man who loves her,” I say, my gaze locked on Eric’s face. In return, I get a beaming smile, and then she bites down on the corner of her lower lip, her look mischievously wicked.

“I know that look, my horny Maestro.”

“Is that right? What is this look?” I ask while grinding my sex against the inside of her right thigh. Her pink lips part and just that tiny response from her sends me spiraling over the edge. I don’t think I can wait until we get back from our meeting with the Fenice’s owners tonight. I need Erin as much as I need a good bowl of Pelmeni, a popular pastry back home in Mother Russia that’s filled with meat.

“That is you misbehaving as usual,” she says, grinning.

I grasp her arms and pull her up against my chest. “Is that right? What do you intend to about my, er, behavior problem?”

“Hmm. Let me see. I’ll have to think of a really good punishment.” Lowering her mouth to my neck, she starts nibbling and kissing the exposed area on my chest, working her way up to the skin underneath my chin, teasing my lips with warm breath from in between hers. Then, finally, her lips land on that spot on the side of my neck, the skin over my jugular. The combined sensation of her hot breath and the way she sucks my skin shoots straight through my body.

“This is how we wind up not leaving the room,” I whisper against her ear, inhaling the scent of freshly washed hair.

“If we miss our appointment with Frederico,” she begins, easing her assault on my neck, moving back so she’s now perched on her knees at the edge of the bed and focusing on unfastening the belt on my trousers, “then more punishment will be necessary.”

“Don’t tempt me, Signorina Angelo,” I warn, slinking a hand through her dark hair and pulling it the slightest bit so she’s glancing up at me, her dark eyes contrasting with the pink of her lips. Images of that perfect mouth wrapped around my sex while those deliciously dark eyes glance into mine, reflecting all the love and loyalty I know she holds in her heart just for me, drive me wild with desire. “You might find I rather enjoy your punishment.”

“Noted, Sir Bad Boy Maestro.” She smiles, dips her head and takes all of me into her mouth, ripping all thoughts of negativity from within my head. Instead, I choose to lose myself—that deepest part of my soul I’ve never allowed anyone to own—inside the warm embrace of the woman I love.

MeetTheAuthor

Author of the Lost Immortals Saga and the Seraphine Trilogy, I'm also a mother, blogger, reader, gardener, home renovator, and a slayer of Egyptian mummies in Tomb Raider. I believe in karma, coffee, and seriously wish that the producers of Xena would bring my favorite show ever back.

I was born in the race-car city of Charlotte, NC, and now live in the City of Alchemy and Medicine, NC, when I'm not hanging out in Bardonia (Lost Immortals). Most of my characters are based on people that I've met throughout my travels and adventures. People tend to stop and start conversations with me as if I've known them my entire life. Does this freak me out? Not really. My mom says that one day I'll get kidnapped by one of them. I told her that if it weren't for these lovely people then I wouldn't be able to create the stories that I do.

I have many favorite authors but there are some who truly rock my socks: Octavia Butler, Anne Rice, Kami Garcia, J.K. Rowling, Dean Koontz (on his good-book days), Stephen King (same as DK) Ann Radcliffe, Mary Shelley, Elizabeth Kostova, and so many more...

Some other common tidbits...hmm. I've watched the movie Under the Tuscan Sun almost 200 times. Seriously, the way I see it is if I keep watching it enough, then suddenly the house that Diane Lane lives in will magically appear in my backyard. I know. I have a huge imagination!
